Alness Transition Town Group, a group of Alness people committed to finding ways of supporting local families and businesses to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, has appointed Peter Elbourne to the post of Community Powerdown Person.

Peter has worked in businesses promoting energy reduction and improved local authority waste recycling plans. A passionate food gardener, Peter (27) commented: ‘I will take great pleasure in helping local residents, businesses and schools reduce energy consumption; this is a fantastic opportunity.’

 

 

The post is funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund and runs to March 2011. Alness, along with 27 other communities across Scotland, is part of a consortium, co-ordinated by the Dingwall based Community Energy Scotland, a community interest company in place to help communities develop long term sustainable means of generating energy.
